Argos is firmly committed to combating all forms of modern slavery and human trafficking. We comply with relevant laws and regulations and implement strict policies and procedures to ensure that such practices do not occur in our supply chain.
We have a longstanding commitment to respecting human rights across our own operations and global supply chains.
Treating people fairly is fundamental to the way we do business, and we work hard to identify and address human rights risks across all levels of our supply chain. We can’t do this alone, which is why we fund training and collaborate with others as part of our efforts to prevent, mitigate and eliminate modern day slavery.
Training suppliers
Training and awareness raising are important steps to prevent worker exploitation.
We were founding partners of Stronger Together, a multi-stakeholder initiative that aims to eliminate modern day slavery. We continue to partner with Stronger Together to deliver free specialist training on modern slavery and responsible recruitment to our suppliers in Spain, South Africa and the UK.
We also have tailored modern day slavery training available to our direct supplier base, which is designed to build knowledge on what modern slavery is, how to spot the signs, and how to report concerns.

Collaboration
Collaborating with others is central to our approach to tackle global human rights risks. Sainsbury’s supports the UK’s Modern Slavery and Exploitation Helpline which is a free, independent and confidential service, operated by Unseen. Our partnership and membership of Unseen’s Business Portal gives us access to intelligence on modern slavery and exploitation reports linked to either our own operations or supply chains in the UK.
In South-east Asia, we partner with the Issara Institute, an alliance of brands, non-governmental organisations and experts that addresses human trafficking and forced labour. Issara provides a range of channels to enable workers to receive and exchange information, raise grievances, and receive remediation support.
